For on-line measurements of air pollution or combustion gases flow in chimneys or flues.
The measurement is isokinetic, it can be taken once for programmed air volume or can be repeated automatically in the continuous manner. There are no time limits for the monitoring.
As the result of measurement there are grain-size distribution of dust, ranged from 0,4 up to 300 μm, divided into 256 size classes and concentration (by quantity and by weight) in cubic meter for any chosen fraction of PM, e.g. PM10, PM5, PM2.5.
Additionally temperature, humidity and flow velocity are measured.
The measurement method of the IPS analyser is complex and consists in measurement with regard to influence of laser diffraction for the smallest particles in order to go on, for larger particles, in a continuous and gradual manner, to measure changes in the radiation stream scattered by moving particles. In this way, certain disadvantages of the “laser diffraction” used in the entire measuring range in which individual, largest particles yield weak changes in the diffraction pattern have been eliminated. There are no optical limitations for measuring individual, small and large particles in the IPS analysers.
The laser radiation stream in infrared not only identifies size of particles, but also renders counting them precisely in the entire measuring range possible.
An electric impulse corresponds to each participle. The impulse is proportional to the particle size. The set of particles is initially measured with the division into 4096 channels and converted (calibrated) into 256 size classes, which are available to a user.
IPS K analyser consist in measuring head [2] and electronic unit [3], that is controlled by computer [4]. Head sucks in the emissions that can be turn back to the flue by hose [5] through tube [6] in the culvert [1]. For user’s comfort measurement control point can be moved form the culvert [1] by the length of cable [7], that is up to 20 m.

A general view on the IPS K analyser
The flow velocity is measured by mean of Pitot tube [9] to assure the isokinetic flow in through nozzle [9]. Isokinetic inlet velocity is determined by equation of continuity after discharge on diminisher [10] is measured and compared to measurement according to Pitot tube [9].

Measured particles are transported through inlet [8] in stream of sucked gases. The particles settle on filter [12] after they flow through diminisher [10] and measuring sensor [11]. The filter [12] is located before compressor [13]. Clean air, that is sucked through another filter [14] in head cone, flows through diaphragm [15] and protects the measuring sensor [13] from dirt. The elongated part of probe is connected with the head by right-and-left nut [16].
There are extra sensors for measuring of pressure, temperature and humidity of the emissions in the head. Electronic signals form measuring sensors and signals that control compressor [13] are sent by connection [18].
The results are recorded and archived in the computer [4], that controls whole measuring process by mean of electronic control unit [3].
